ABOUT HRD DESIGN AWARDS
Renowned today as one of the world’s most considerable Jewellery design contests, the HRD Design Awards was initiated in 1984 as the ‘Antwerp Diamond High Council awards’, with the aim of promoting creativity and design excellence in contemporary diamond jewellery in Belgium.
In 1988, the competition became biennial and introduced an innovative approach. The contestants would work their design around a defined theme.
The 2003 edition for the first time was open to candidates from across the world. Today we are proudly launching our 19th edition of this competition.
The HRD Design Awards is a unique prestigious opportunity for talented Jewellery and accessory designers from all across the world. We aim at promoting their creativity in contemporary designs. For the competition, artists will fashion an exclusive creation to highlight their unique artistic ability.

ELLEN JONCHEERE – CEO – HRD ANTWERP
“Diamonds are a symbol of commitment. When I started at HRD Antwerp 4 years ago, I already decided that one day, we would come back to Istanbul.
Giving up is not within my nature. It’s something I share with the thousands of designers that competed one or more times, in the HRD Antwerp design awards. When you see beauty in your design, you know you have something good to bring to the world.
I cannot think of a more powerful symbol of my commitment to Turkey, to not only bring back HRD Antwerp, but also our crown jewel, the HRD antwerp Design Awards, to Istanbul.
The message is clear! We are here to build the Turkish jewellery market together, help it grow and support the next generation of Turkish designers and jewellers.
See you soon in Istanbul.”
AVEDIS KENDIR – JURY CHAIRMAN
“In jewellery everything starts and ends with design. Every piece we make is an everlasting testament of our creative minds. All the love and passion we put in the design process is the result from a journey of experiences, visions and emotions.
Showing and sharing your designs with the world is a scary thing to do. I have the greatest respect for all these young people that dare to take such a step and show what’s in their mind.
In my many years in the industry, I guided a lot of young designers. It will be my pleasure and honour to do the same for all the participants of the HRD Antwerp design awards.
I especially want to invite Turkish and Middle Eastern designers to participate in this competition. We have so much design talent in our part of the world and this platform is the perfect way to showcase that talent globally.
Good luck to all participants and we meet each other in 2025 in Istanbul.
